The Global Sustainable Development Goals were agreed upon by the members of the UN, and that's the challenge we set for our club. We dream of the elimination of hunger from the face of the earth and we're not waiting until 2029 to begin. With the creation of this site we declare ourselves willing to accept the challenge and hope each of you will accept it with us.
The problem with many "Feed the poor" solutions is that they produce food in one place and deliver it in another. The poor get no more from it, than that their children won't die of starvation tonight. Where does the food come from? We buy it at rock bottom prices from over producing farms on the other side of the world. It's trucked to the coast, loaded on monstrous ships, then hauled an incredible distance, a few meals end up costing as much as a poor family will earn over the next several weeks.
The solution to the Zero Hunger challenge, is to give the poor the knowledge and capability to produce their own food and,
if possible, give them jobs, so they can stop sending their children to work. If we can provide them an education and
food we can break the cycle. They must be allowed the chance to become land owners, they must be enabled,
by us, to grow out of the dead end they find themselves in,
Our ideas are not a short term fix, we can't provide a bandage or a pill. What we propose will take years to even begin fixing the problems, because our plan begins in your back yard!

We intend to begin visiting schools to show young people that working together is the answer.
We intend to show tomorrows leaders that ignoring the problems of today,
pushes them off with a snowball effect, to the next generations.
Encourage your children to see the desperate needs in the world! Stand behind them if they want to join the club!
What we ask of them is really not difficult and it's not time consuming. We want them to put away their cell phones and TVs
for a short time each week to search for sustainable solutions to eliminate hunger in the world.
We ask parents, grand parents and aunts and uncles to support our youth, encourage them to take part,
if you can, offer your help to a project. Most importantly, forward a link to every young person you know.
Send a copy to your schools and politicians, ask them to help in the search for answers.
Our kids are so intelligent, sure they want to do it their way, there are reasons for that, they really do think differently than adults. That's exactly our point, let the kids use their "un-blindered" view of the problem to find new methods to reach the goals.
A perfect example of how our youth can make a difference is Boyan Slat, the founder of Ocean Cleanup. Provided with a good education and with the backing of a group who really care about changing the world, we can do the unimaginable.
Why do we want your kids to make a garden for the club?
If they blog their garden, so that anyone can read about it, others will follow. "How to videos" can be used to teach others!
We hope to get kids, the world over, to start talking about solutions, converting waste into usable things and
finding ways to do more with less. When they band their ideas together to help each other, the possibilities are limitless.
Those in need could be your neighbors, in the next town, or across the world.
If you live in an average place, there are poor very close to you now, struggling to survive.
Where should we start a garden?
There's unused land everywhere, it could be in your back yard, at the school, in the park or just next to the road.
To make a beautiful tomato plant you don't need more than about 1 sq. meter. In the same space you can put several salad or
bean plants, the options depend on space, money and permission to use the land.
I hope that my first public garden will be together with Syrian refugees and I hope to be used by schools.
Who's paying for this master plan?
We intend to show that it doesn't need to be paid for, we will ask local people to donate things from our wish lists.
We're searching for inexpensive solutions to our problems, to find new ways to solve old problems, cheaply.
Some parts could be produced using 3d printers or by reusing things no longer needed. We hope to get the price under $1.00 per plant for a system which almost runs its self. At this cost, a fund raiser really could make enough to pay for a complete garden. The lesson we want to teach, is that the solution to the worlds problems, when done effectively,
really can cost almost nothing.
Imagine this! If we provided a hungry village with a portable solar 3d printer, abundant hose, and an inexpensive computer (here PC1 + PC2 are some examples to show you how cheap a PC can be) loaded with instructional videos made by your kids, it would be simple for the village to watch the videos as often as needed, to learn how to create the exact same garden, where they live.
If we give them the parts they need to collect rain and tanks to store the water, together with a way to produce and store electricity, the garden can be automated to be almost completely self sufficient. This is not just a wild dream, you're welcome to see it as that if you want, but in the spring of 2016 we'll begin blogging just how simple it is, to prove that it really can work.
I beg teachers, club leaders, parents and anyone else who can help, to join in, encourage your kids to join in.
I know that they'll surprise you if you let them.
